Muscle-up

A Muscle Up is an exercise in which one goes from a overhand pull-up position to a cast position (where the bar is at the waist). It can be performed on rings, a branch, a bar, or any sturdy surface that's easy to hang from. Although it is most commonly used as an exercise (since the bar kip is easier to use), it is occasionally used in Parkour as there are places were both a climb up and a bar kip would be impossible (such as under an overhanging ledge).

Tips[]

  • Being able to do at least 20 pull-ups is a good per-requisite for a muscle up; dips are also an important exercise for building the strength necessary (dips are an advanced exercise themselves, so a certain level or upper body strength is required to do them safely).
