This is a Split step front flip tutorial with Jesse La Flair and Shane Daniels ( http://www.youtube.com/ShaneDaniels009 ) from Team Tempest. This is an advanced way to do a front flip. PLEASE LIKE & SHARE Reasons for a gather step front would be to take away all the impact in the ankles knees and back we receive from doing punch fronts on concrete.
Like everything we do we must find progressions in our movement so that we can learn these moves safely and the right way instead of just hucking it and getting hurt.
Prerequisite: Have a solid punch frontflip ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oP27mr5mbpA ). When dealing with any sort of flip we must first get comfortable with the way it makes our bodies feel. This is known as spatial awareness and will grow with us the more we move.
In the Gather step frontflip
- rotation comes from the legs and tuck - height comes from jumping and keeping your chest up
Knowing how to gather step (split step) -having a good kong may help -swinging arms up -keeping chest up - Foot placement under the chest -not having chest way past foot -looking ahead on take off and not down -explosive take off
